Lakers' Yue: I'm 60 Percent Comfortable With System
January 9th 2009, 2:08 pm by KB10
RealGM:

The Lakers are asking for some solid minutes out of guard Sun Yue because of injuries, but he's not completely comfortable with the team's offense.

"For me, every game on the court I feel more better, more comfortable," Sun said. "I might not be getting used to the whole system 100%, but I think I'm at about 60% and it's getting better. Everybody tells me to don't be in a hurry because the triangle is difficult."

Yue has appeared in four games, and played less than four minutes on Wednesday night.

"We just want him to go in there and play spot minutes, just do a job," coach Phil Jackson said. "I thought he did fine. He hustled and he worked hard. Things deteriorated around that group that was out there, [but] it wasn't all his fault."

Walton out 2 weeks with foot injury
January 7th 2009, 10:55 pm by KB10
LA Times:Lakers forward Luke Walton sat out Sunday's game against Portland because of a sore right foot and will see foot specialist Kenneth Jung today to determine the extent of his injury.

Walton is believed to be experiencing sesamoiditis, a condition in which there is irritation in the sesamoids, which are small bones bundled with tendons that run to the big toe.

Walton had started 11 consecutive games at small forward and was averaging 5.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists since moving into the starting lineup.

Walton's foot hurt before Friday's game against Utah and it worsened after Saturday's practice.

"Every time I step on it, it hurts. Every time I extend my foot, it hurts," Walton said. "It's something I tried to push through, but the more I ran on it, the worse it felt. It's like there's a burning rod being stuck in it."

Trevor Ariza replaced Walton on Sunday and had four points, five rebounds and two assists in 32 minutes. His defense on point guard Steve Blake...

Odom's knee injury isn't serious
January 7th 2009, 10:49 pm by KB10
SportsNet:EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Tests showed Lamar Odom's right knee injury is not serious, and the Los Angeles Lakers forward is day to day.

Odom, injured late in the second quarter of Tuesday night's 116-105 loss to New Orleans, was examined by team physician Dr. Steve Lombardo on Wednesday. An MRI revealed a bone bruise in the knee.

Odom didn't travel for Wednesday night's game at Golden State, but could return as early as Friday when the Lakers host Indiana.

The 29-year-old forward scored 12 points in 13 minutes before being injured Tuesday. He is averaging 8.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 26.2 minutes per game.
